Matt Damon Continued.............

Matt is awful proud of how he grew up, looking back at his childhood. He was taught from a very young age about hard work and how it pays off. If you’re going to do something in life, do it the best you can and give it all you’ve got.
His first love was dirt track racing, along with helping his dad in the shop and working on vehicles. Matt also loved playing football and basketball. In football, he was Qb 1 from pee wee all the way through his Sr year in varsity. After school, Matt took off traveling, doing pipeline work. In 2016, he started trying to learn how to play a guitar. When Matt picked up trying to play the guitar, everything changed. He couldn’t put it down. Starting out, he just wanted to be able to play a few songs around a campfire to his friends at deer camp or in similar situations.
When he went and watched Rockey Jones play, afterwards he had a conversation with him that changed all of that. Matt loved Rockey’s voice and how he played the guitar. He asked Rockey to teach him how to play, and soon after started going to all of his shows to help in any way he could. He said, “I would sit and watch him all night long and try to figure out how he was making the sounds he’d make come out of that flat top.” That man can play anything acoustic, and he wanted to be able to do that. When Matt started playing his own shows, he used his traveling for work to his advantage. He would find places to play within driving distance of where he was working. He would play all he could.

As of now, Matt has played in over 20 states -- mostly solo acoustic in some old dive bar. In 2020, Matt met a man named Dave Percefull at Yellow Dog Studios and decided to start writing his own songs and to push forward to make the transition into being a true artist. It took the help of Dave, Casey Johns doing the producing, and some amazingly talented musicians like Phil Hook, Dillon Taylor, Adam Odor, and Josh Center…and Collin Tucker doing the engineering. and Jay Lemon with the vocal coaching along the way.
In April of 2025, Matt released his first EP titled “My Kind Of Music” with the lone single titled “Fire and Gasoline” to all streaming platforms. Currently, Matt hangs his hat in the Show Me state of Missouri. He works for B&S Contractors out of Kirksville while he is working on putting together a 10-song album with the plans of furthering the sound they’ve found at Yellow Dog, and his music career.
