John Wilson
John Wilson, keys player for Jon Stork, is based out of Richmond, Texas and has been playing with Jon the band for about 4 years now.
John first started playing the piano when he was around ten years old. The next year was John knew he truly wanted to play music after seeing Aerosmith, his mother’s favorite band, up close and personal at the Toyota Center.
In high school, John and his friends started a local band that played everything from block parties to birthdays. He would fill in whatever instrument was needed and jump around between guitar, bass, drums, and keys.
John then took his talents to the prestigious Berklee College of Music alongside his friend and bandmate, Dillan Dostal. John would utilize the upright pianos in the 20+ practice rooms housed in the basement of his dorm to really get his chops playing the keys. From then on, he’s been sharing his talents on the keys around the Texas Country Music scene.
When asked where he draws his musician inspiration from, John notes the great 60s-70s rock bands, but listens to just about everything nowadays.
John says his past four years with Jon Stork and the rest of the band have been a blast. “He's a really great singer and songwriter and getting the chance to play great songs around the country is the dream. We have a really great group of guys that keep everything evolving musically.”
John Wilson is a finalist for Keys Player of the Year at the 2024 Texas Country Music Awards in Fort Worth this month. “The Texas Country Music scene means so much to me. It really feels like a place for musicians to be themselves and really play the music they want to. From the musicians to venue owners, to the radio DJs to the TCMAs, it feels like everyone just wants to help everyone else succeed. I feel really honored to be nominated as Pianist/Keys Player of the Year alongside such incredible players. I'm just happy to be here!”
Jon Stork and the band just released a new music video for their song "Never Seen", which was produced by Release Rocket Media. In the next few months, John Wilson will be opening a new recording studio in Richmond, TX called Stablephonic Studios, so keep an eye out for that!
