How long have you been a TCMA Member for and what has your experience been like so far?

I joined the Texas Country Music Association (TCMA) in early May of this year and my experience so far has been fantastic! Although I haven't had the chance to attend any events yet, the membership has helped boost my social media marketing. Following and connecting with other members has opened up numerous networking opportunities for me.
How did you get started in music?

In 2007, a few friends and I started a high school band called the "Barefoot Texans." We had the opportunity to open for some great artists, including Aaron Watson, Jason Boland, and Stoney LaRue. Since then, I’ve remained a dedicated student of music, continually honing my craft.
How would you describe your sound?

I would describe my sound as old-school, frying-pan country. I like to stay true to the Texas country sound while sprinkling in my unique tone and flavor.
Where do you derive your musical influences from?

I derive my musical influences from both sides of the Red River, drawing inspiration from Texas country legends like Hayes Carll, Chris Knight, and Robert Earl Keen, as well as Red Dirt icons such as Ray Wylie Hubbard, Jason Boland, and Stoney LaRue.
What does your songwriting process look like?

My songwriting process often begins with a melody on the guitar that inspires me to write lyrics. These melodies are usually made up on the spot and then crafted and refined in smoky bar rooms across Idaho and Texas.
Can you describe your experience recording and releasing your original music?

In 2010, I won a singer-songwriter competition that granted me the opportunity to record three free songs at the renowned Largemouth Studios in China Springs, TX. Aside from that, I've been fortunate enough to have friends who let me join their recording sessions. As many know, you don’t make a lot of money playing live, so it’s challenging to get into the studio and release as much music as I'd like. In the last few years, I’ve been able to release some singles on streaming platforms, and it has been a rewarding experience to navigate the process and share my music with the world.
Do you have any upcoming projects or music coming out?

I am working hard to release singles regularly and perform live anywhere and everywhere I can to increase my fan base and presence in the live music community. It feels like a never-ending project that I'm blessed to be a part of, and I can't wait to see where this journey takes me.
