Through events, resources, and our online magazine, we’re creating a platform for fans and musicians alike to connect, discover, and grow.

Our online Texas Country Music Magazine is a hub for everything related to Texas Country—whether it's the latest album drops, artist interviews, concert reviews, or deep dives into the stories behind the music.

We’re looking for an Editor & Salesperson to join our team and help us continue to elevate the voice of Texas Country and take Texas Country Music Magazine to a higher level.

Job Description:

As the Editor & Salesperson, you will wear two hats: managing the editorial side of our online magazine's website and driving sales and partnerships to support the publication’s growth. This is an ideal role for someone who has a strong understanding and passion for Texas Country music, a knack for writing and editing, and the ability to connect with potential advertisers and partners to secure revenue.

Key Responsibilities:

Editorial:

  • Content Editing & Proofreading: Edit and proofread articles, interviews, reviews, and other content to ensure it meets our editorial standards.

  • Feature Writing: Write original content such as artist profiles, music reviews, event previews, and opinion pieces centered around Texas Country music.

  • Photography:  Capture the moments at events, concerts and industry related activities. Basic knowledge and skill with photography using high quality phone or camera.

  • Editorial Calendar Management: Create a content calendar that aligns with the latest music trends, album releases, and key events in the Texas Country scene.

  • Collaborating with Contributors: Manage freelance writers, photographers, and contributors to ensure content quality and adherence to deadlines.

  • SEO & Audience Engagement: Optimize content for SEO and ensure it’s engaging to our digital audience.

  • Social Media:  Handle all social media for Texas Country Music Magazine including regular organic posts.

Sales & Revenue Generation:

  • Advertising Sales: Actively seek out and secure advertising partnerships from local businesses, venues, record labels, and Texas Country music festivals.

  • Brand Partnerships: Establish relationships with sponsors and key partners within the Texas Country industry (artists, music festivals, radio stations, etc.) to secure collaborations and sponsorships.

  • Client Management: Manage relationships with existing advertisers and partners, ensuring their satisfaction and fostering long-term partnerships.

  • Sales Goals: Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets for ad revenue and sponsored content.

  • Strategy & Innovation: Develop and implement new sales strategies to increase magazine revenue while staying aligned with TCMA’s mission and brand identity.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in Editing & Writing: Proven experience editing, writing, and managing content, especially within the music or entertainment industry. Experience in Texas Country music is highly preferred.

  • Strong Knowledge of Texas Country Music: A deep understanding and appreciation for the Texas Country music scene, its artists, and culture.

  • Sales Experience: Demonstrated ability to generate revenue, secure advertising, and manage client relationships in a digital media or music-related context.

  • Self-Starter & Motivated: Ability to work independently and stay organized while managing multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and interact with clients in a professional manner.

  • Tech-Savvy: Familiarity with SEO, digital content management systems, and social media platforms for content promotion.

  • Bonus: Previous experience working for a music-related publication, digital media, or event-based organization.

Compensation:

  • Commission Based: This position offers a very generous commission split for ad sales, sponsored content, and partnerships.

  • Flexibility: Work from anywhere with a flexible schedule. Occasional travel to music events and festivals may be required.
